My name is George, I am the owner of the Avalon Veterinary Clinic in Milngavie. I qualified from the R(D)SVS in Edinburgh quite a while ago. I worked as an assistant in mixed practice in Kilmarnock. I moved to small animal practice in Manchester for several years. Eventually the need to come home to Scotland grew too strong. So in 1991 I came to Milngavie and bought the Avalon Veterinary Clinic in Main Street. In 2003 we moved to our new premises in Cloberfield Industrial Estate.
My current interests include the use of acupuncture in pain control, pain management and rehabilitation post surgery. I also have an interest in practice management and the training of veterinary nurses. In my 30 years in practice, I have seen many changes. But I believe that the traditional values of caring for the animals in my care should still be at the centre of any veterinary practice
At home I have a Border Collie, Meg who enjoys long walks. My interests away from work include hockey, primarily coaching at Western Wildcats but occasionally still playing (injuries permitting). I enjoy watching American Football and researching my family history.
